Director of IT Project Management

Our client is seeking a full-time Director of IT Project Management with experience managing deployment of software system solutions across a large enterprise as well as key technology infrastructure projects. The position will direct and oversee a team of project managers. The ideal candidate is a team player who is quality-minded and able to thrive in a fast-paced, and highly mutable business environment. The candidate should possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills in order to develop and deliver optimal solutions to business challenges. The candidate will review proposals to determine costs timeline, funding, staffing requirements, and goals and work closely with internal departments and senior management to ensure the successful completion of projects.

Project Lead – Warehouse Management Systems

  1. Responsible for guiding/supporting Epson’s essential business systems landscape, particularly in regard to warehouse management and shipping processes and procedures.
  2. Maintain an in-depth understanding of applicable Epson business processes and requirements, and how Epson business utilizes systems to achieve their processes.
  3. Actively participate in the evaluation of proposed systems projects based on cost/benefits, available IS resources, and overall IS objectives, recommending cost effective solution alternatives (including effort estimations).
  4. Provide strong systems leadership in project planning and execution according to objectives, specifications, schedules, and quality standards; ongoing support of systems solutions; and task status/issues reporting to IT and business management/peers.
  5. Ensures the success of each project by directing and participating in system development phases:
    • Gather and organize business/user requirements and feasibility analysis
    • Perform application design for systems architecture and integration
    • Create technical/functional documentation
    • Develop code that meets business requirements and IS quality standards
    • Develop and conduct system/unit test plans, including user acceptance test planning and execution
    • Develop implementation schedules, system implementation planning, and execution
    • Contribute to the allocation of appropriate personnel and resources to projects
    • Ensure project success criteria are met
  6. Resolve day-to-day user system support issues related to system functionality, performance, efficiency, availability, and maintenance of production systems within area of responsibility.
  7. Participate in on-call rotation supporting production systems and user trouble reports; direct others in production support activities.
  8. Builds strong relationships with IT/business peers and management to best meet company goals and objectives.
  9. Research and evaluate appropriate software products being considered for acquisition.
  10. Keep current with technology trends and their impact to the organization.
  11. Participate in planning and execution of Disaster Recovery testing to help ensure business continuance.
  12. Participate in the development of and compliance with written departmental standards and procedures.
  13. Responsible for motivating, evaluating, coaching, developing, and mentoring group and department personnel.
  14. Manages and leverages relationships with vendors for a specific product/service (best price, best product, etc).
  15. Operates within budgetary constraints, participates in the development of annual budget forecasts; participates in updating and reconciling operating and budget plans as required.
  16. Contribute to development of tactical and annual operating plans, defining goals and objectives for the group.

Requirements:

  1. Have 5+ years of strong experience in a leadership role as in a programming development team, supporting various business applications.  Background in programming/development a substantial plus.
  2. Experience with Java; PL/SQL, stored procedures, and Oracle database a substantial plus; Powerbuilder; Crystal Reports; XML; wireless device interfaces desired.
  3. Strong experience with building and testing systems interfaces to ERP applications (SAP experience highly preferred).
  4. Understanding/background of SAP/PI highly beneficial.
  5. Preferred background in an IBM AIX environment.
  6. Experience with Citrix preferred.
  7. Have excellent interpersonal, listening, verbal, and written communication skills .
  8. Enjoy working with a team, while possessing a strong independent work ethic.
  9. Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or B.A.) or equivalent experience.
